Afzal Guru’s Crime

Occupied Kashmir / India:

The family of Afzal Guru (photo below) was kept completely uninformed about his hanging, and his dead body was seized by the authorities away from his family and disrespecting his right to be buried according to Islamic rituals, in a blatant breach of Guru’s basic Human Rights and the Human Rights Law.

By doing this, Indian authorities think they can break the will of Kashmiris to keep marching towards liberating their occupied land. India can never defeat Kashmiris by using force and fabricating charges against them, many incidents had proven this.

Guru was hanged on February 9th, 2013 according to Draconian Law, an Athenian Law under which small offenses get heavy punishments. This reflects nothing but the brutality and injustice of the judicial system in India. Many examples had proven that Indian courts are biased and unreliable especially when it comes to cases related to Kashmiris and Occupied Kashmir.

During his trials, Guru had been subjected to extreme torture which included electric shocks in private parts and being beaten up for hours along with threats regarding his family and relatives after his arrest. Between the time of his arrest and the time when fabricated charges were filed, Guru was told that his brother was held in detention as a pressure on him, and this led him to make fake confessions under duress as his family was being threatened as well.

Indian civil society and International community should take notice of Guru’s death in order to prevent such crimes committed by those who are supposed to prevent them from happening.

Days after hanging Afzal Guru, a strict curfew was imposed in the streets of Kashmir, on Media, Internet, Newspapers, basic amenities. Full siege by Indian Army was imposed against Kashmir. Shootings were everywhere addressed to anyone who protests, five dead according to Indian sources but hundreds according to ours.

The situation inside India wasn’t better though. Hindu extremists attacked Kashmiri protests at Jantar Mantar, Delhi. People were not allowed to pray or gather for praying! By committing these practices, India holds the banner that says; “Welcome to “Caged Kashmir” where Indian Democracy & Secularism is in full swing”!

The shocking thing during all of these events was that the world remained silent and pretended to be blind, while watching the so-called “Democratic Country” parading its fangs against armless protesters and violating their basic Human Rights the “Right to Protest peacefully and the Right of Expression”.

The so-called “Freedom” in Lebanon!

Lebanon:

I’ll start off  by a new Human Rights violation committed by the Lebanese authorities today, just to put you in contact with the so called “Freedom” and “Human Rights” situation in Lebanon.

Today the Lebanese judiciary has ruled to deport a Syrian dissident officer and hand him back to the Syrian authorities, his name is “Muhammad Tlass”. After a recognition that he fought alongside with the Free Syrian Army, he was arrested and tortured during entering Lebanese territory illegally. He was fleeing from the brutality of the Syrian Regime. He didn’t want to kill his Syrian fellow brothers and sisters, he refused such orders and decided to flee to our so-called democratic country “LEBANON”. Lebanese authorities in turn, arrested, humiliated, tortured, and sent him back to a war zone, in a blatant breach of all International norms and conventions!

Shame on the Lebanese Government. No doubt that this officer will face death in Syria as he will be executed for refusing direct military orders and our Government is fully aware of these consequences, as it’s being governed by Hezbullah’s military wing, the party that supports ASSad openly.

By doing that, the Lebanese Court ruling on Tlass’s case will be neglecting a very important rule stipulated on in Article III of the Convention against Torture, which states” … not to deport any alien to his country if his life was in danger…”. In other words that means, Lebanon has committed a new Human Rights violation during the last 10 years! A clear image about the Lebanese Democracy.

The Arab spring did not make its way to our broken Lebanon yet, we need that!

Here in Lebanon we do believe that, Lebanon is the only Arab country which is literally transferring from Democracy to Dictatorship. The honest Lebanese people believe that the Syrian Revolution will bring us justice and dignity, as we the Lebanese suffered a lot from that brutal Syrian regime.

Yes, we are waiting our Freedom from the Syrian Revolution! We can’t split ourselves from the Syrian situation, that’s a fact! The Lebanese Government which is now a tool of the filthy Syrian Regime is trying to shut free mouths up by executing active youths whom are working with the Syrian Refugees. Lebanese authorities have arrested, tortured and killed recently Human Rights activists in Lebanon, those who are easing the sufferings of their Syrian brothers! I do work with those refugees, all what we do is delivering some warm clothes, blankets, toys for the kids and food! Our so-called democratic Government wont let us do that easily, they hate it, and I believe that’s a severe Human Rights violation committed day and night in Lebanon.

The increase of Human Rights violations in Lebanon has put Lebanon in a narrow place alongside the black countries that oppose Freedom of Speech! The Freedom of Speech I’m talking about is not that represented by the hypocrites voices, is not the one represented by liars who defend the Government blindly, is not the one represented by those who praise and justify the violations committed in Lebanon under any title. Some people used to tell me; “Oh, come on we all know how Lebanon is rich of Freedom of Speech and Expression represented by the hundreds of TV channels and NGOs operating in Lebanon”. Yes we do have hundreds of TV channels and thousands of NGOs but very few unbiased ones, media blackout plays a great role in Lebanon.

The year 2012 marked violations of civil liberties, and restrictions on Human Rights defenders, including:

  • Interrogating many activists who work on reporting and monitoring Human Rights violations in the Lebanese prisons against backdrop of reports of torture in Lebanese prisons.
  • The claims addressed by the Internal Security Forces for the activists and defenders of the rights of prisoners of Roumyeh prison and charging them of promoting pictures of torture from Roumyeh prison.
  • Abductions and arbitrary detentions being committed by the Lebanese Army Intelligence for those who are active in the Syrian file, who works in humanitarian aid field, especially what happened few days ago in Ersal village (Bekaa), Akkar (Tripoli), Al-Biri village (West Bekaa) etc.
  • Lack of security in Lebanon due to the illegal weapon spread between civilians, especially Hezbullah illegal weapon which was used recently in too many occasions against Lebanese and Syrian people in Lebanon who support the Syrian Revolution. Knowing that Hezbollah and its allies got the biggest number of seats in this Government, thus they are ruling it the way Iran wants.
  • The Abductions of Syrian activists committed by Hezbollah thugs covered by the Lebanese Government.

I call for a Lebanese Revolution against our Government and against Hezbollah who controls both security and justice in the country. We are really in need for such movement, we should work on that!

Long Live the REVOLUTION!
