On Sunday, the supreme Commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Gen. Mohammad Ali Jaafari, admitted that members of the “Quds Force” of the Revolutionary Guards are in Syria and Lebanon, but only as “advisers.”
General Jaafari said in a press conference which took place in Tehran that a number of the Quds Force elements are in Syria and Lebanon. But that doesn’t mean to say that there is a military presence there.
He considered that this mission comes in the context of “what he called” providing advice and opinions for both countries (Syria and Lebanon) in order to benefit from the experience of Iran, as he said.
This is the first time that the Revolutionary Guard publicly admit the existence of the Quds Force in Syria.
Several Arab and Western countries accused Iran of involvement in providing military support to Bashar al-ASSad’s regime which led to the continuation of bloodshed in Syria. From its part, Tehran accuses Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar of trying to overthrow ASSad’s regime! O_O
Noteworthy that the Quds Force is a special unit responsible for official and secret Revolutionary Guard operations outside Iranian territory.
Western analysts say that the unit consisting of thousands of items is particularly effective in the Middle East.
